CRAIG TAYLORS 1200th GAME Sunday 12th Sep 2pm

As Craig reaches his 100th birthday (looks that old anyway), on Sunday his loyalty to play his whole career for one Club is rewarded by him making his 1200th game for the club, in an over 35's-60's game against the Bristol combination side of the same age bracket.

Included in the Combo's squad are Dave Hilton & Pete Polledri. Kick off is at two, so give Craig your support my turning up to watch (or play). There will be raffles and an auction afterwards wiuth all proceeds going to Craig's nominated charity Childrens Hospice South West. Also Thatchers Gold is on sale at the Club!!!!!

At half time The Star Public House will be challenging Whitehall in a tug of war contest, with John Bailey officiating

PRE SEASON TRAINING STARTS THURSDAY 3 JUNE

The rugby Commitee met and decided to start pre season training on Thursday 3rd June at the Club from 6.30pm. Last year you showed immense commitment and this was reflected on the pitch, with your fitness. Numbers exceeded our expectations.

Next season is a massive challenge for the Club, not only for the 1sts but for the 2nd's, 3rd's, & 4th's, as they enter the newly formed Gloucestershire Reserve Leagues.

Don't wait until then, keep yourself fit, and hit the first session fighting.

The caoches are here for your benefit, so use them

Revised Date For AGM (now Tuesday 1 June 7pm prompt)

It has been proposed by the rugby committee that pre season training starts on Thursday 3 June 6.30pm. It therefore makes sense that before this, the Club has all the officers in place before this. Due to Dinner & Tour this is the best convenient date to hold it.

Please make every effort to attend and have your say in how the Club is run, and use your voting rights. Next year is going to be the most challenging on and off the field, so a strong committed Management team is required.

Why not consider taking a little responsibility on yourself (if you're not already part of the team). Last year, we split the Committee's down into smaller working parties, so below are the roles available outside of the Rugby Committee;

President
Chairman
Vice Chairman
Hon Secretary
Hon Treasurer
Treasury (Counting & Banking Cash)
Referees Co ordinator
Fixture Secretary
Membership/Subscriptions Secretary
Commercial Manager
Press Officer
Catering Manager
Webmaster
Rugby First administrator
Kit Shop Manager

or become part of the following teams;

Commercial
Social
Club Development

The more help the Club gets, the easier is it to Manage, so please seriously consider giving up a few hours a month to help your Club

Iain Pring
Chairman

Club Dinner Saturday 15 May 1pm for 2pm start

It's that time of year again, and remarkably the cost of a ticket remains £30.00 for non Vp's. (VP's free). Not bad for an excellent four course meal

Guest speaker is Graeme Beveridge an ex Scottich scrum half, and presently player coach at Old Reds. Our guests also include Tony Swash from the Referees Society, and John White from the Sunday Independent.

Dress code is strictly No 1's, and no jeans. Admittance by ticket only and no entrance on the day without one, as we have to book numbers with the caterers in advance.

Tickets should be available from this Saturday onwards. Please see either myself or Gerry Pearcey. (Even if you're a VP you still need a ticket).

IMPORTANT WORKING PARTY SATURDAY 1 AUGUST

Please spare a few hours starting at 9am, we need to clear the changing rooms & paint them, tidy up the big container, give the clubhouse a clean, and spend some time on the second team pitch.

Shouldn't take long it lots turn up. A few free pints afterwards and a bbq if the weather is good. It coincides with a three quarters training session between 11am and 12, so do both or if you're a forward, just help at the Club.

It's essential that we project the right image on and off the field so please spare a few hours and help your Club, and don't rely on the same old few.
You're commitment to the season is also off the field too.

See you there

Any queries regarding the dinner please can you contact Gerry Pearcey 07798727384 as I will be abroad on business until Thursday evening.

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

AGM Monday 22 June 7.00pm

Please make an effort not only to attend this important event, but seriously consider standing for a position of responsibility. For the Club to run successfully, if requires more than the usual half a dozen people that do 90% ofthe work.

I am particularly looking to the under 25's to become more actively involved. If you stand as an ordinary member you will be given a task to manage for the year.

It's encouraging that there are a number of nominations for the First Team. Next year is a massive challenge for the Club, and it needs a strong management team both on the field and off, to make this challenge successful.

There are new positions this year, a social, commercial, and facilities development, don't be frightened, all the necessary support and help will be given, and this will take a massive burden off of the existing Committee.

Thank you to everyone that has put their name on the boardso far.
